Tips for Choosing a Diffuser for Curly Hair

As a curly girl and curl specialist, I have always wondered why it is so hard to find a diffuser I love. Have you felt that way too? Well, I thought I would touch on the qualities I absolutely require for my diffuser and my opinion on hair dryers.

Requirements…

  1. Wide and deep bowl
  2. Fingers that are lower than the the lip of the bowl
  3. Bend/elbow on connector/sleeve
  4. Universal sleeve
  5. Bonus: Changeable heads

I used to use (and loved!) the Salono diffuser (used it for a good 20 years), but then they discontinued it. And the suggested replacement model just didn’t compare. So on the hunt I went to find one that fit the bill. After searching a lot, I came across the CIC diffuser (pictured above). It fit my needs plus has added features for a pleasant surprise. It’s affordable, has changeable heads, an elbow on connector and you can even add an oil on little pads inside the head for an added (scented)  experience. Best of all you can use the high speed without creating more frizz.

I have tried some of the popular, high end models of hair dryers and diffusers. For myself personally, I have come to believe that the diffuser is way more important than the dryer itself. However, I know individuals that love the popular options. It’s all personal preference. A few things that go into the decision making will be: are you comfortable with the size of the diffuser? The weight? The fit on your dryer? The most important thing is that you find what works best for you and your clients.
